Get this heartbeat thing on

6 November 2008 2,120 views No Comment

I used to be a strategic brand consultant working in a lovely agency until this little bee started grumbling into me: fly like a butterfly sting like a bee…which I translated into: go and follow your heartbeat. I did. And quit my job…

FREEDOM…yes! Give me tons of soy cappuccino; let me sit in these cafés doing nothing just soaking in life and people. Nice! But having this amazing date with myself, I couldn’t ignore my Swabian genes, knocking at my head, asking, „What will we do next?“ (if someone knows how to press the stop button, let me please know. I tried to get over-caffeinated escaping into dizziness but it did not work… …besides the fact, that I now am an expert in acid free nutrition…). Kind of a strange feeling if you start the whole identity shit right from the beginning, asking yourself „What do I want to be?”. You might vaguely remember what these thoughts did to you when being a teenager (grmpf). I guess the only difference is that now I already could exclude a couple of job profiles from the „wanna-be-list“ (with the one and only exception: the thing with becoming a muse…”Darling would you please, please give me inspiration by just being you?”). Sometimes I admire people who pop into this world, bringing with them this one and only passion for…lets say „digits“ (uuhhh). It definitively bears the danger of becoming a total nerd but it saves so much energy and time which I always spend following every sign which appears in front of my nosy nose („Hi, that’s me, I don’t have any idea what exactly you are doing there but it looks pretty interesting and that’s definitively enough for getting me into it.“).
But well, I guess that’s how it works if you go for passion in your life. Unfortunately there is no passion-to-go at the supermarket but there is something else: bitter beautiful Berlin which offers you a smooth landing, letting you bump into people who share this vision. Although leading a creative life seems to have no clear definition. But could it?
I feel privileged to live in this city, sharing this zeitgeisty attitude with some really amazing people around me and kind of shaping a new part of society. Maybe we could do a new (web TV!!!!) daily soap called “Quest for experiences” (action, yeah!), or “Urban 21st” (which goes more into the style-coffee-to-go-smart-look), or “Creative identity” (subtle-cryptic)…
And there it is: this heartbeat bumping in my stomach, which gives me the feeling of standing at the right cash desk. And, having no idea where this all will finally lead, there is one thing I found out so far when digging for new constellations in my life: Feeling this little hopper in my chest, making me giggle is the very best tracer for deciding if I follow the newest thing I discovered or not.
